School Art

Article posted 20 Sep 2018

I had always enjoyed art and by the time the O level started it got both better and worse:

I was separated from most of my usual classmates (who were instead doing Control Technology as their optional subject), and therefore with people I wouldn’t normally choose to spend time with… and who still found it really exciting and interesting if somebody wore glasses, so I decided not to wear mine, which didn’t really help with seeing things to draw in the first place.

A particular low point was being called a ‘swot’ because I could draw.

Much better was how I had a massive breakthrough right at the start of the 4th year(Year 10 in new money), and was successfully encouraged to make the blacks blacker. I used 4B pencil, and even pen (With water and also using hatching with black biro). Most of the work I’ve got copies of were set as homework, and there’s one end of year and some pieces I submitted for more O level exam.
