Menaggio
To the beach first! Well, after breakfast… in the hope that we’d get less foot-stamping and tantrums from James (No, not really).
After an hour or so of watching James rescuing stones from the lake, we walked up hill, changed out of our swim gear and drove uphill to Limonta proper—what a strange place! Another Italian rabbit-warren of people being on top of one another (Successfully, I think). And this rural seems very intact and functioning versus UK (old) villages.
We found an ace parking space in down-town Bellagio (Catherine showed off her reverse-parking skills), and had lunch over-looking the lake and got our ferry tickets… to Menaggio across the lake.
A quick play in the park later and we were on board ready for ice creams at the other end.
We stayed for a couple of hours in the sunshine, played in yet another park, and Catherine found a ‘Hello Kitty’ beach set.
Coming back on the car-ferry we stopped at Varenna and both agreed that the whole Italian lakes area was a great place to come and relax and take time over simple things. It’s no stress (We brought our own: J and M!), great weather, beautiful scenery, a touch of class and ‘Why would you ever want to leave?’
Back in ‘Dimeglio’ supermarket on the way home for butter, milk and bread, and dinner, wash and bed for bambinos.
