gavnosis.com was initially started as part of my journey of discovery with web development, and was also an experiment to use Textpattern to manage content; the idea being as I worked things out and discovered new techniques, I could record them here for me to tap into later, and from wherever I might be (Web based! Clever eh? …and because everything is within a database, this whole site is also searchable, so there’s a chance my notes can be found again!).
The funny thing is, I can’t remember precisely how I stumbled upon Textpattern, but for a couple of hours one evening at the start of 2005, after a little play with Radio UserLand, one link from somewhere took me on a journey inside the community, and I was reminded what a fantastic thing the Web is, and how generous and kind people can be, sharing time and knowledge within an open source framework. My enthusiasm for design was rekindled, and some of the names I’d encountered at the CSS Zen Garden were also within the Textpattern Comunity, too.
So a big thankyou to everyone who makes this kind of thing possible.
And I never took the tin-opener…
